Hello everyone!
Updates on Oz! (Oz = Aus = Australia. Kind of a local thing )
Lots has gone on since I last blogged- so I'll try to keep this short- for all you Reader's Digest fans.
The weekend before last I went on a trip to Port Stephens- Australian wine country! We (group of program students and I) left late Friday and returned Sunday evening. The hotel we stayed in was definitely a little dated for my taste- with a dance floor directly beneath my room, which kept me up until 2 every morning. But the adventures were fun and worth while. We went to a shark and ray feeding center on Saturday- which allowed us to get into various tanks with small sharks and rays. After the feeding we went dune boarding- which was kind of like snowboarding down sand dunes on your butt- WITHOUT a chair lift! A small mountain climb and one local brewery later and we were out like lights. The following Sunday was a procession of wine and chocolate tasting- and then we headed back into Sydney for another week of classes!
Speaking of which- classes are definitely starting to ramp up. First quiz was last Thursday (took about 2 hours to complete). First papers are due this Friday- so everyone is more or less staying in this week to crack down on our respective projects. I've had a wonderful time exploring the city at night- finding wonderful restaurants and hotspots around every corner!
Since the actual academic semester is rather abbreviated, we're all looking forward to our spring break! I'm making plans with my mother who is planning a rather indulgent trip to Cairns to visit the Barrier Reef and rainforest. Following that will be the start of the second half of the semester, where we'll all be interning at various companies around Sydney. So far it looks as if I'll be in an account management position at an Australian ad agency- the exact agency has yet to be determined, but I'm very much looking forward to it!
That's all for now- Keep on a readin'!
